Della&Jim

Della and Jim , newly married , were poor . Jim`s wage was enough to rent only a
very small apartment but there were tow things of which each was proud !

Della had the longest and the most beautiful hair in New York and Jim possessed a niugmticent gold poket watch , given to him by his father .

Della always noticed sadly , when Jim looked at this watch that it was fixed to the buttonhole of his coat by a common old leather strap . He relly needed gold chain . Jem often thought if only he could buy Della a jewelled comb to hold her long hair in place .

Now it was Chirstmas eve , Jim and Della began to think what presents they could offered to give each other .

Della had a wonderful idea , she ran down the street to the shop with the notice :

" Hair bought "

she entered and an hour later walked out of the shop richer by fifteen dollars but without her hair !. She bought a chain to suit Jim`s watch and wrapped in a piece of coloured paper .

When Jim saw her hair , he was speechless .Della cried . " It will graw again very quickly . I had to sell it to buy your present " . She produced the parcel from behind her back .

Opening it , he loughed until tears came into his eyes . He had sold his watch to buy a jewelled comb for her hair . Della smiled & said :

" Ours are the best Christmas presents in the worled ."
